I just bought a nice camera and shit for taking real estate pics/video. It would be cool to try it out to film some of my jams.

Not sure what kind of tunes I'll write this time - I think I have enough material for my doom "album", and felt the inspiration was running a bit dry on that front towards the end of last season. Might need to take a break from that kind of stuff and do something else.

oh yeah, covers for sure. Probably won't do the lead a week, as last time noone did one, plus getting backing tracks is an utter pain in the arse

I can probably jump into a new season. With my buddies and I recording all the covers we did in high school (and rather quickly), even if I don’t have an original, I’ll have a cover. Hopefully I can leapfrog them over the next couple of months until the album is done.

Ideally, a complete song, but the only one who can decide if a song is complete or not is you. My wife’s got some punk band’s CD where every song is like 15 seconds long. (Literally)

And unless you’re writing prog music, you can generally get away with copy/pasting verses and choruses.

The intent is to get people writing/recording, anything beyond that is cool, but it’s more of a push to get us all being active with our instruments, so no one is going to bust balls if you contribute a 2 minute song.

Don't sweat it. Everyone who participates regularly has good weeks and bad weeks. Just like most albums, there are killer "hit" tunes and "B-side" tracks aplenty. But, like Rev said, the idea is just to get us using our gear creatively - and some REALLY cool stuff comes of it.

That's not a prob, to a non-metal fan, 98% of the stuff we end up submitting would all sound the same to them!

And the more ya keep yourself in the headspace of writing, the more stuff ends up coming out. The desire to hear/play something different generally kicks in and causes you to venture to different areas of the neck, or use a different sound. It's the most non-competitive "competition" ever.
