MM.Org Season One - PRESEASON WEEK TWO

This is just pre-season. It will run from 12:01 AM on Saturday, March 13th until midnight the following Friday.

If we were actually keeping score, the leaderboard would look like this:

- Blazon_Stone - 10 points
- Iron1 - 10 Points
- Nick - 10 points
- Valtteri - 10 points
- Markus - 10 points

The rest of MM.Org - a big fat ZERO. But, that's ok, everyone knows preseason doesn't count.

Ok, on to the 2nd and final week of the preseason. Hopefully 7DT can fire off the full season in a few weeks. But, for now, this is what you need to know:

Here's the (slightly modified) rules 7DT posted for the last SAW over at that other place... yes I went there to get it and ... the horror...

Anyway, here we go:

Rules are simple, do 1-2 things every week, Post your creations in the weekly thread as soundcloud/youtube links.

The deadline for this week is end of play, Friday, March 12th.

Short rules:
- You have until Friday midnight/Saturday morning to post your submission
- Either do an original song or a cover/medley.
- Submissions must be stuff you've done this week, no matter how awesome an old track/recording is
- 10 points for each submission, per category.
- submissions as souncloud or youtube links. Well, as long as it is playable from a post in the thread really.
- You can do multiple entries per category, but only the first one will score points.
- no eliminations, do your stuff as and when you can
- Don't be a dick to other people. You can go to ss.org for that.
- Don't steal other peoples songs
- Most important of all: have fun!

In the end, it's just pre-season, so there are no winners - not sure if that makes us all losers - or is that just me... ummm... anyhoo... Hopefully this will tide us all over for a while until 7DT can get back in and set up a proper season for us.

You embed the link by wrapping it with [sc ] [/sc ] instead of [url ]

Good stuff! Dig the progression in the beginning. The vocal pattern reminds me of early Sepultura, even though it sounds nothing like a Cavalera.

I don't know what that means or how to do that, I must be getting old. On other forums, you just copy-paste the link for YT videos and sound cloud and it does automatically..

I'm not a singer and can't find anyone who wants to work with me, so I just wing it. I find drum loops on YT and I write riffs around it. I dont even have bass guitar on my track... Im one-man show

Just simply type in "[sc]" without the quotation marks, then cut & paste in your soundcloud link and then type in "[/sc ]"without space between C and ] or the quotation marks. You can go back and hit edit on your quote of my soundcloud link above to see what I'm talking about.

And, like I said before, I'd happily do some vocals for you, just can't til I get a better studio situation.

The mix seemed ok, but Soundcloud squashed it really bad which makes it hard to tell. Maybe try backing down the overall volume before uploading it. I know if you give SC a 10-12db cushion, it doesn't squash the track so bad. Took me a few dozens songs to figure that out.

I don't have a bass guitar and can't even play it I don't want to keep asking for favors and being a needy guy. If anyone wants to work with me with my songs i would be really happy, vocals, bass, some lead solo to shred the hell out of it, as i cant shred either well looks like it i cant do many shit lol

sounds brutal brother, my fav parts are chugz after blastbeats. your guitar tone kind of reminds me of Exodus tone. how many layers of guitars do you record, they sound big.

I run two panned hard left, two panned hard right. When I first started doing SAW I was panning 6 to each side, but the gain staging was retarded and someone on here gave me some great advice that led to me pulling back to just 2.

I only do 3 layers, 1 in the middle and hard left and right.

I run the bass up the gut and have the drums doubled and panned slightly left and right. So, the guitars are panned hard, the drums panned slightly and the bass right down the middle. I'm sure there are better ways to do it, but that's what I do...

Thanks! I feel like the guitars get lost a bit in the fast parts, but love the tone I'm getting in the slower ones. Have to figure that out - maybe it's too much high end in the click of the kick?

In my humble opinion leave it alone, as an artist, you will never be 100% happy. You will always find something that needs change or '' can be better'', make the song get the mix and move on to the next song.


What I do is, once I finished the song I get it to sound ok the mix, and then I delete the file after bouncing it, so I cant go back to mess with it and make me move onto the next song.

Fuck I missed this week. As usual I get super excited in first day and then I get lost


I think it would work better for me if its was "SONG A DAY" rather than a week, all that waiting time between kills my momentum
