  • Good flat headphones nowadays?

    Hello everyone!

I got $120 worth of Amazon gift cards. What's good pair ofstudio headphones that is as flat as could be to be true in that price range?

    Thanks!

I've sworn by beyerdynamic DT770s for a long time - I actually don't love how they sound, but they're extremely transparent and very easy to hear minor EQ tweaks, and more importantly thewy're extremely comfortable, the only 'phones I've been able to war for a few hours at a time without the band pressing uncomfortably at the top of my head.

+1 for DT770s. Super comfortable, reasonably transparent and the price is right.

Another one for the DT770's, they're great.

Team DT990s here. They're all similar, I just think the open back is more accurate, the closed back boosts the bass IMO. Negligible difference though.

My dad has DT770s and they're fantastic - I've been wanting a pair for a while now. I have a pair of A-T M50s and they sound decent, but are a bit scooped and get uncomfortable fairly quickly. They feel kind of heavy and tight, and make my ears sore after an hour or so.

This is a good point. If oyu're planning on tracking in them, particularly with mic'd instruments and fairly sensitive mics, the added bleed from the open back will be a conern, but if not the 990s might be a bit flatter.

dt 990 pros are still pretty heavy mid scooped which is just the beyer house sound, the dt 1990 pros have much more mids but are super expensive and way more uncomfortable for me (they are pretty heavy due to metal cups). You can get some good software eq to make them more flat there are some profiles posted on headphone sites. I don't have links but I have seen them I just don't care I have like 6 pairs of headphones I switch between I don't want them all to sound the same.
