    Elixir strings

Anyone else notice a shortage of Elixir strings during COVID? I made a juststrings order before the new year and it was taking forever, and when I finally inquired about it I was told there was no ETA for the 7 string 9-52 sets. I just tried to see if I could add a set of 9s then order a 52 single but it seems there's no luck there either.

Yeah, I had a JS order take ages too, same reason. I was getting Elixirs for my seven string acoustic.

I ended up just going through Amazon.

There’s a shortage on Elixirs right now, because there’s a shortage in general, and Elixir does t make their own strings.

Glad I stocked up a while go, didn't realize there was a shortage.

There's a shortage in a ton of industries now. Last time I browsed Sweetwater a couple of weeks ago, there were dozens of new guitar models listed as out of stock.

My buddies and I like to target shoot in the woods and the price of ammo has gone up 2-3 times normal levels since the pandemic started. The value of some used guns has gone up significantly as well. The doomsday preppers and gun nuts bought up everything on the shelf at the start of quarantine, and factories of several industries have been slow to get back up to normal levels. I've heard this is due to strict lockdowns in many parts of the world, plus the fact that many factories still have staff furloughed and are enforcing social distancing. As they are operating with a fraction of the workforce, overall production is slow and output is down, despite demand being constant, if not higher than pre-pandemic levels.

And no, I'm not a alt-right, Capitol Storming 3%'er. I like to refinish beat up antique rifles as a hobby.

....which is exactly what a alt-right Capital Storming 3%'er would say...

Sucks we have to clarify these days, eh?

I was using Elixirs but ended up swapping back to D'Addarios for now since I couldn't get my hands on them. Crazy shortages.

I used Elixirs for years but decided to give a set of D'Addario NYXLs a shot a year or so ago when my shop was sold out. I haven't looked back. They aren't coated but I seem to get a lot of life out of them.
