    NGD: It's all Rev's fault.

I totally didn't need this at all, but I've kinda wanted to grab a seven again after years of not having one and seeing Rev's thread the other day made look on ebay, I managed to find a cheap (but beat to crap) 7620 locally so I grabbed the shit out of it.

I'm sure I'll mod the crap out of it, but for now I'm just enjoying chugging on the low B lots. Though I do need to find some knobs that don't look like shit sooner rather than later.

Anyway, have some poorly lit pictures showing it in all it's beaten up glory:

Will probably look at getting it refinished (black) or having a new body made at some point (Does anyone in the UK still make aftermarket RG bodies?)

Not sure what I'm going to do about this however...

Fuck yeah. The beat-to-crappedness makes it cooler.

        This. Exactly this.

As I said, I'd spotted this one myself. I actually think it looks rad with white knobs. I'll bet the engraving ("chizzling" if you ever used intermusic/Music Radar while the genius Paulo was around) can be concealed with a colour-matching wood filler compound.

Nice score. I actually think white pickups would make the white knobs look better.

Don't think I liked that colour the 'first time around', but that looks great to me now. Great score.

I like the white knobs but I'm not a fan of the shape and writing on those Fender-style ones. Reminds me of my shitty Squier from back in the day.

Maybe get an Allen wrench holder for the back of the headstock to cover the carving.

I think you should put these on it:

Set of 3 top hat strat style knobs with one volume, 2 tone, and 1 matching switch tip made from 100% cnc machined aluminum 6061-T6 and brite dip anodized in our protective and vibrant Jet Black color.  For use with standard 6mm (.236") split/spline shaft pots found on MIA and MIM s...

This. Sand it down and toss a wrench holder over it.

Other than the weird De Veyra carved into the back of the headstock (the previous owners surname or something?), very nice. Given the shape of that guitar, I'm surprised the trem isn't rusted to hell. My old RG1527 had (in my opinion) a lot of chips on it (all caused by me, frankly, since I bought the guitar new), but it was maybe 1/4th as many as that guitar, yet the tremolo was ridiculously rusted by the time I eventually sold it (about 14 years after I first bought it). For a guitar like that, what matters is that it plays and sounds good.

Not one of more common colors for the 7620, at least not that I've seen. Nice score.

I somehow only just noticed that it looks like someone attached a pickguard to this at some point, I might follow suit and get Mattayus to make one for it when he give it a setup later this week. I reckon it'd look rather spiffing with a matt black one on there.

Though oddly the Hiwatt gets more playing time these days, it was a bit of an impulse purchase before lockdown hit vs the Sunn which I spent years looking for. The Model T turns more heads when I play out though (they just don't exist in this country).

My first thought too. Even if you didn't sand it down, it would at least obscure the engraving. I suppose you could hit it with some wood filler and sand it smooth again, though that would just leave the engraving as a wood filler inlay, so...

Replace the knobs, and do the wrench thing, maybe pickups, but else it looks awesome as-is. If you start spending money, spend it on a new guitar that gets you the things you want from that one.

I kinda like the stock pickups so far, maybe a bit flubby on chords on the low B but I'm certainly not in a huge rush to replace them. One thing I will do is pull the tone and put the volume knob in it's place, I keep turning down the volume while I'm playing it. I've also found some Sure-Grip knobs that I'm going to chuck on it.

I'd like to not spend too much on it as I won't be using it live and it's more of a piss about guitar for home, but I do like modifying the crap out of things... so who knows!

It’s about time I used my powers for something good instead of getting people naked.

I think white pickups would look sweet in that as well!
