    This one!

Had it delivered to my job since I'm in an apartment complex and don't know my neighbors yet. Came from Spain to Pennsylvania, to Kentucky then Florida, pulled it out of the case, strummed a G chord and it was dead nuts in tune. What a fuckin' trip!

I bought it from the Solar outlet store where you can buy scratch and dent stuff, but dude, this thing is going to have more dents in it after I'm done setting it up.

This is all I could see-

It was in the 3rd position of the Evertune, where you can bend the strings but they don't change pitch, that messed with my head for a second. This thing is a beast!! I wasn't expecting it to have the weight it does! I like it in person much more than the pics I've seen online though. I've barely played more than a couple notes on it so far, setting it all up now and then I'll do some chugga chugga stuff.

Neck is a really round C shape, I figured it'd be a little thinner than it is but it feels great! Excellent fret work! Now I'm going to finish setting it up so I can play the fucker!

    Thanks, Ola The Swede
    !!

Totally unexpected and not planned, too! That PRS was entirely unplanned!

This Solar though, holy fucking shit!!!! Just beastly!!! I'm loving the shit out of this Evertune, too!!!! It took about 25 minutes to set it up in drop C with 10-52's and would have been quicker had I had experience with this before, but after setting the intonation, you pretty much have it figured out quite well. I didn't have to touch the action at all, if anything, I might drop it a pinch, but it's pretty dead on from the factory.

Sound wise....I wasn't expecting this! These pickups are pretty killer! Went with a 5150 first, yep, checked all the boxes, then a JPIIC+, yep!....everything I play it through sounds great!

Haven't fucked with any clean tones yet but man, I'm stoked about the PRS, but I'm REALLY fucking stoked about this Solar! There will definitely be some more of these coming my way in the near future!

Oh man, wish we lived closer to each other so I could come check it out in person. Congrats, it looks amazing. After getting a Solar bass and Solar guitar, I'm totally addicted and expect you will be too. While the Evertunes scare me, it's good to see you got it figured out pretty quick, even though you're way smarter than me. Now, post some clips or it didn't happen - you know the rules. #HolyWars

Nice. Can't say I'm a fan of the bridge, but that's a cool-looking fiddle, to quote Fireman XXXXX.

If you can setup a regular bridge you can set this up. One tool to do everything; tuning, intonation and action. It’s easier than setting up a Floyd, that’s for sure! Not really that different than setting up a fixed bridge though, only difference is you’re using a tool to tune the guitar with at the bridge instead of the tuning machines. And the crap I hear people saying about it sucking tone is the exact crap I hear about people saying Floyd’s or Kahler’s suck tone. Meh, if it’s sucking any tone out, than this guitar is crammed full of tone. There’s nothing dead or muted sounding at all on this and pinch harmonics fly off the fingerboard with ease!

I was just thinking about Solar in general and if this is an example of their line across the board, it’s exactly what I wanted in a guitar. This is easily on par with any MIJ Ibanez I’ve ever played and comes in at the price point I find reasonable, like 90’s MIJ’s. I’ve been wanting to find a brand to kind of stick with so I could keep some commonality across several guitars for when I put a band together for my original shit. I’m 110% sold on making that Solar.

I’ve barely been playing guitar in the last month or so and when I went to track some guitars last night, it was apparent! But tonally, I was comparing it to tracks I laid down with the same presets using the Fishman’s in my SZ. World of difference. The SZ sounds tiny and compressed in comparison to this. I was surprised to find how well lighter gain works with these pickups as well without being too bright. I was certain it would have the brutal stuff with ease, but I was curious about that Cantrell/Mastodon/Friedman range of tones because a bright pickup in that setting can sound like ass. Not these!

The Explorer shape (again, IDGAF McPatches, it’s a fuckin’ Explorer shape) took a little to get used to sitting down with and I suppose this comes from the image of Hetfield standing at a mic with one slung down lower than his sack, but it’s just the ultimate metal guitar shape for me. That said, my back is all jacked up from moving/lifting up loading dock bay doors without the motors in an emergency, so I found myself moving it around last night and getting jolts of pain down my back when I turned the wrong way.

All I can think about now is getting home to play this more.

What was it ya didn’t like about it?

I’ve been switching between 3 bridges; an original Edge, a Gibraltar III (my favorite TOM bridge ever) and a Strat bridge. The Evertune is the most comfortable one next to the Edge and I don’t have to worry about cutting myself on the saddles like on a Strat, or nailing my hand into the TOM on my SZ.

I don't like the feel, either of the strings when I'm playing or the bridge itself under my hand. I'm a picky bitch, though, and they seem to work for a lot of people - but people like recessed trems and flat guitars, and I want some angle, so, whatever works for ya.

Good to know on the bridge, I HATE setting up Floyds and assumed the ET was similar level PITAness.

And, couldn't agree more on the Solar line, although they don't quite compare to my '91 MIJ Ibanez - little does - they utterly destroy any Ibanez I've touched in their same price range. Ola's killing the competition and taking no prisoners.

I'm also right with you on thinking about getting home to play it, except I work from home and it's literally 3 feet away all day, taunting me with its siren song to slack off and jam.

To be fair this can be said about a lot of brands. Ibanez can certainly make damn good high end guitars, but their low/mid range stuff is just consistently lousy. Compare that with LTD/Schecter/PRS's SE line, etc and there's no contest.

My wife actually bought me the first Floor Pod when it came out and I loved it... back then. Can only imagine how horrible it sounds now compared to the a Helix or Axe FX.

Some of that old gear has charm, and some still kicks ass IMO. I'll still rip it up on a 2101, that thing sounded badass.

Pods, sadly, are not among the things that still sound good. Unless you like fizz.
