Yet another pointless blade switch in a balls-our rock guitar.

My forever pet peeve will always be the "I need the pickup selector where I can flick it from playing position and volume knob where I can roll it with my pinkie" faux virtuoso bullshit.

I am 0% surprised. These are probably the "evolution" of his Fender sigs. Those were basically Fender branded super strats anyways

I actually don't disagree with the volume placement.

The Ibanez JPM had my perfect switch/knob placement. While I’m certainly no virtuoso, I’m constantly switching between bridge/neck during a solo and don’t want to reach over shit to get to it. You can see the scratches my pick makes on my SZ because I just hit it the switch with my pick as I’m playing.

Cool, but nothing special compared to what models are already out there.

Boring. And the volume knob is way too close to the strings.

I mean, it's not bad it's just a Jim Root strat to play Slipknot songs, it's not like he's Malmsteen or Gilmore and he needs work in volume swells and shit.

Al Di Meola does just fine with his pickup toggling, almost as far away from playing position as possible, for example.

I just kinda chuckle at how demanding guitarists are about some of the specs on their guitars for shit they don't do anyway.

Y'all need to learn to pick.

He's AL DI MEOLA. Jim Root is in a slightly lower talent pool.

I know what you mean, though I think they did a Wildcard with that switching/knob already, so maybe he liked that?

Angel's sig model is like the only unique Charvel. The rest are all just painted SoCal and SDs.

Yup, boring. HH guitars really only need the 3 toggle imo. I have been looking at Charvels lately though. That green Satchel model just calls out to me for some reason.

Tell that to Nuno. He’s got the volume knob in the correct location.

Yeah, even though I know it's the case - although the Govan is *slightly* different - it's still disappointing.

Is the neck carve different? As for the volume knob, thats a pretty standard location it seems to me, not even as close as a Strat and I love the old style numbered knobs for their lower prohile...but then they put a damn blade switch? I guess if they didnt it would basically just be the model they made a while back.

There's exactly one control layout I like:

I played a couple of them, I dug the neck quite a bit but the overall feel of it was like, “too new”, if that makes sense.

I guess my biggest question is, why?

I wonder if Fender is just trying to get some more attention towards Charvel so they moved him over there?

“Well Jim, we know you want a Floyd and we’re thinking that our Charvel line could do some good with your name attached. If we do a Floyd model, are you ok with it saying Charvel on the headstock?” I’m sure the same dudes are making his guitar for him regardless.
