I was thinking I wanted another 7 string, and have been thinking for some time I wanted an HH Sabre, so this ticked a lot of boxes. Not sure if I'll keep the Quantum pickups or not, but definitely want to replace the fugly stock bridge and probably the tuners as well.

Got it off a guy who bought it new so he could jam with a buddy who wanted to play "modern metal" but the seller only likes to play 80s stuff. He said he tried for awhile, then decided he wanted to stick to his old school stuff and put this in a case where it's been ever since.

Has a little buckle rash on the back and a hand full of swirl marks, etc, but overall it's in pretty good shape.

He was selling it for $400, then lowered it to $300. I offered him $225 hoping to land at $250, which we did. He lives an hour away, so I drove over to a Walmart parking lot in his town to meet him yesterday morning. He no-showed, and I left. While I was driving home, super irritated, he pinged me and apologized, said he overslept and offered to bring it over here today. So, I met him on my lunch break and he gave it to me for $220 for wasting my time yesterday.


As said above, it desperately needs new strings and some cleaning. It has 3 sharp fret ends, on the 1-3 frets at the top side of the neck, but I've gotten good at taking those down with a file from all the cheap guitars I've flipped in the last few years. So, I'll tackle that tomorrow most likely, then see how these Quantums sound. I have a few buddies who love them, and I dug the ones I had in my 97 S540, but I'm not so keen on the ones in my wife's Jem Jr. So, we'll see.

Then it's figuring out if a Hipshot bridge will fit it or not without leaving any evidence of the ugly Ibby bridge behind...

I would have grabbed one of those too. It's crazy how hard Sabre 7s are to find. What pups are in yours?

They’re stock as far as I know- there aren’t any markings on the outside. I’ve never taken it apart since I picked it up. I hardly play it tbh but I did use it on some of my earliest SAW entries from the other site. Mine is a 2007 model.

Probably also quantums. I just plugged this one in and fooled around a bit. Definitely needs new strings (thought I had some, but have have nothing but 6 string sets) but I think the pickups will be fine.
