"Not only does this new lineup represent a brand new beginning for Iron Label, but it also brings with it the long awaited return of two Ibanez fan favorites: the iconic Iceman, and the much request Xiphos. Both guitars signify the commitment of Ibanez to the metal genres, and we could choose no more fitting a return for these two, heralded guitars than the newly revamped Iron Label series."

Video shows nothing but here it goes anyway

So, last year Laney's Instagram feed had this in it:
    20201031_103648 by SR, on Flickr

And now Ibanez has released this:
new iron label by SR, on Flickr

Looks like they're going after the ESP Black Metal, or Solar guitar market.

Not a fan of the illegible tree branches logo at all. But it's nice to see new Xiphos and Iceman models.

A 7 string Xiphos with a trem is something I've wanted for ages, and it's good to finally see it happen.

If only this website had any moderators capable of merging a thread. 🤔

Wonder if this Xiphos stuff puts Balaguer on notice since their shape was a near 100% copy I'm assuming slipped by since it was pretty much defunct.

I’m sure it’s all $1000+ Cort guitars with mediocre QC, while Schecter and LTD are doing WMI stuff for the price. Ibanez sucks these days.

Meh. BTB looks pretty slick but this line never interested me much to begin with.

Oh man, that 7 string Xiphos looks tasty as fuck. How are those Ibanez trems? Haven't had an Ibanez with anything newer than a Lo Pro.

Any idea if they're swappable with an OFR or Gotoh trem? Stud spacing, spacing from the front of the bridge to the intonation points, route, etc?

Gotta admit, the Xiphos with a trem is interesting, since every Jackson Davidson I've played has been disappointing.

Not that I need another 7, but...

I was actually thinking of getting a Davidson and doing a stainless refret on it, maybe this would be a better base for modding, although the Davidson has an actual Floyd.

The Edge Zero 2 cavity edges are more rounded than ones you'd find on OFR or even the Ibby edge cavities so you may need to do some heavy routing to get an OFR or Gotoh to fit.

Like Randy said, the EZ2 isn't spectacular. But it's serviceable enough. The fine tuners suck, but I haven't had any tuning issues.

interesting that they incorporated the radial bevel I designed for Tosin’s guitar into the Iceman.

I really like the Iron Label series personally, though I've never really been a fan of the Iceman body shape. Xiphos looks cool when other people are playing it, but I just don't think it's for me.

i'm hoping the neck on that iceman is closer to an rg. if it is, i'm going to buy one.

And, that's exactly why I don't own an Ibanez newer than 1994, even though I was a diehard Ibby fan for literally decades. And, it's not like I haven't tried and tried and tried to buy a new one.

Now, my Jacksons, KM6 and Arrow-1000 get that love. Sorry Ibanez... stop sucking and maybe I'll come back home. Cause those *look* sweet, but probably suck when compared to other brands at that price point.

Ibanez is prestige and j custom, the rest are just variations on themes literally every major guitar builder other than gibson and fender are all bandwagon hopping through.

I think when compared to the likes of ESP and Jackson Ibanez still offer you a great quality guitar without having to pay 3k for it if you buy a prestige.

Buck for buck, ESP kills Ibanez for both choice and quality, IMO.

I considered an Alexi LTD when I bought my Xiphos 12 years ago, the Ibanez's neck felt way better. Is it as good as my MIJ RGs? No. Is it as good as the Schecter C7 I had? Yes.
