The ultra high production quality of every single shot in this video makes me want nothing to do with it.

Before you get too excited, it's about $3,600. I mean, I'd probably use the hell out of it in my studio productions, but...

The EXPRESSIV MIDI PRO is a revolutionary MIDI guitar controller that is incredibly expressive and easy to use. Plug & Play with any Synth or DAW and take your performance to a new level.

Hopefully they are able to scale and bring the cost down or even release a base model that just has the fretboard scanner. That said it still has me tempted at that price point. No more expensive than a new Les Paul, PRS, boutique

I'd also be interested in making/buying a midi controller potentiometer kit that could for instance replace your tone knob (which i never really use) and allow you to control parameters on the afx2/other midi devices. That would be killer, briefly looked into yesterday and seems possible to go the diy route

I haven't looked into it too closely, but I'd imagine the fretboard scanner requires extreme precision installation to work correctly. You're not going to contract out something like that to a Cort factory in Indonesia. Also, it might require lower tolerances in the guitar manufacturing than they could guarantee from a low-cost builder.

Their site is rather vague on how the system works (probably to protect the idea from competition), but it sounds like it sends a slight electrical current down the length of the strings, which changes as you press on a fret.

I'd worry that it might be fragile, too.

                  I would love this.

I'm not a good keyboard player , and I am not very fast at plupping out MIDI with mouse, so this would be perfect for me.

                  BUT... expensiv

Wow, and I thought the Fender Tele’s headstock looked like a limp dick. This takes the cake.

And I think I speak for everyone when I ask the important question “what beard oil do you use, sir?”

That is a concern, not something your average guitar shop could fix either.
