NGD - Straight as an Arrow

I’ve kinda wanted one of these for awhile. Then I played a 200 series last year and really didn’t like it.

Not sure there’s a huge difference between the 200 and 1000, but this is much cooler.

For some reason over the last month or so, I’ve gotten an itch for a V and started looking at RRs.

Then this popped up for a total steal last week and I snagged it. Showed up today and after cleaning it up and replacing the rusty strings, I’m digging it.

Don’t like it as much as my Jacksons so I may play it for awhile then flip it. But for now, it scratches one more off my bucket list.

The listing said it had a “few small chips in the headstock” and “some red paint stains on the back”.

Well... there’re no chips on the headstocks, but one of the bottom tail end and 2 smaller ones on the other. Can probably fix those easy enough.

The red paint smear is on the front - and I tried to get it off with some lemon oil, but no luck. Anyone have any suggestions? Gonna ask in the Guitar refinishing group I’m in, too, but a lot of them love to advocate for total sand and repaint jobs, and that ain’t happening.

Fuck yeah dude. One of the the coolest V shapes there is IMO.

As for the paint - I'd try automotive polishing compound first.

Thanks guys! Think I'm going to increase the order of strength in what I try to get the red off. I'll go with rubbing alcohol next, then Naptha, then a compound.

Here's some more eye-candy now that I'm in front of my computer, too.

Now to figure out if I can get these EMGs to play nice with the Axe FX...

Nail polish remover will probably take that red right off. Just use it sparingly and wipe it down with a damp cloth when you're done.

In my past life as a tuner car guy, any time I had to use it (acetone) to get shit like old sticker goop off, I'd use this afterwards:

                  Thanks Chris.

I love me some Meguiars. Always used it on my F-Bodies back when I used to drag race.

                  Edit:
And I just spent the last 30-ish minutes jamming on it. Sounds fantastic! Last set of EMGs I had in a guitar sounded awful - these sound great.

While it's definitely not a "play sitting down" guitar and that's mostly what I do thee days, I think I'm in love.

                        Acetone FTW!

Took a little elbow grease but the acetone took it off.

Nice. These are very cool-looking guitars - I almost bought a used E-II Jesse Liu, which is basically this same shape in a 7. Nice score.

Well, if you ever do, a paint scraper will take that horrid E-II off the headstock in no time. :p

FWIW a V shaped guitar is the most comfortable body style to play sitting down......

agreed, but i also prefer classical style. playing guitars regularly sitting down is weird to me.

What's funny/ironic to me is when I was gigging, if I played sitting down I made too many mistakes. I can picture sitting in the control room at Sound Wizard Studios and after numerous takes full of screw ups, standing up and nailing it. Now, it's the other way around since I've only played on stage once in the last 20 years...

Nice score LTD 1000's are great guitars, they're the highest level of LTD before the change to the E-II's (or ESP before E-II was a thing)

I've been wanting to get the colour-change version of this for a while but I have so many guitars I have a hard time justifying it.
