    Top 10 Thrash Albums Ever

My music listening habits go around in strange cycles, where I will listen to nothing but a certain genre of music for a couple of months. And then switch to a different genre for the next few months. In the last day I've circled back round to being in the mood for metal, specifically Thrash.

This may have been done before on MG, but I thought it would be fun to list our 10 favourite Thrash albums - the only rule is only one album per band.

    I'll start:

    1) Metallica - Ride the Lightning
    2) Exodus - Bonded by Blood
    3) Dark Angel - Darkness Descends
    4) Slayer - Reign in Blood
    5) Vio-lence - Eternal Nightmare
    6) Razor - Violent Restitution
    7) Nuclear Assault - Handle with Care
    8) Megadeth - Rust in Peace
    9) Demolition Hammer - Epidemic of Violence
    10) Kreator - Coma of Souls

I really wanted to fit some Overkill, Testament, F&J, Coroner and more on here, but that's the difficulty with only 10.

edit: I’d probably have Forbidden in my list instead of Demolition Hammer now I’m looking back at it.

Being that I listened to most of this list before I'd ever even heard Metallica or Megadeth, I might have a bit of an odd order.

    1. Kreator - Coma Of Souls
    2. Suicidal Tendencies - Lights Camera Revolution
    3. Testament - Low
    4. Slayer - Reign In Blood
    5. Megadeth - Rust In Peace
    6. Metallica - Ride The Lightning
    7. Overkill - Horrorscope
    8. Vio-lence - Oppressing The Masses
    9. Sepultura - Beneath The Remains
    10. Forced Entry - As Above So Below

You’re breaking my fake rules here. Only one album per band

Ah shit, i have overseen that

Well, i will kick Countdown To Extinctiona nd add Exdus Bonded By Blood isntead, and also I would argue that RTL Metallica and MOP Metallica are basically already two different bands.

Can't really make a best ever list but if you asked me to name some great thrash albums my list would look something like:

                  1. Rust in Peace
                  2. AJFA
                  3. Reign in Blood
                  4. No Place for Disgrace
                  5. Practice What you Preach

Nuclear Assault would be in that list somewhere too, Critical Mass and The Plague especially.

Some of these lists are great. I don’t really care about ‘the best ever’ I just like these because it helps me find some classic albums I may have overlooked.

For me it would be something like

                      1. And Justice for all
                      2. Rust in Peace
                      3. Anacrusis - Screams and Whispers
                      4. Forbidden - Omega Wave
                      5. Antidote - Mind Alive
                      6. Anthrax - Worship Music
                      7. Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss

Can't think of more stuff right now.

                        In no particular order:

Metallica - Master Of Puppets (I can pick between this, Ride and Justice all day long)
                        Megadeth - Rust In Peace
                        Slayer - Reign In Blood
Testament - The Gathering (New Order is the more obvious choice so...)
                        Sepultura - Arise
                        Kreator - Coma Of Souls
                        Anthrax - Among The Living
                        Death Angel - Act III
                        Exodus - Bonded By Blood
                        Overkill - Years Of Decay

I don't think these get enough credit for what they are - reunion albums that can pretty much hang with the band's "classic" back catalog.

Yeah, one thing that I definitely like more on Omega Wave than the classics is the vocals - they're just so much meaner sounding on Omega Wave.

Hard to make a Best 10... but some are to me clear winners:

                              Slayer - Reign in Blood
Exodus - Bonded by Blood (to me the real original Thrash album and not Kill em All)
                              Metallica- Ride the Lightning
                              Destruction - Infernal Overkill
                              Testament - The Legacy
                              Death Angel - The Ultraviolence
Possessed - Seven Churches (although if it's Thrash or Death is dubious although to me Death started the genre with Scream Bloody Gore)
                              Sepultura - Beneath The Remains
                              Megadeth - Rust in Peace
                              Paradox- Product of Imagination
