I pre-ordered it and then forgot until I got the email from Bandcamp this morning. It was a nice surprise to wake up to. Real stoked to give it a spin later.

The two songs are super fun already, insert standard "but no Deathrace King" statement here - besides that, my only gripe so far is the mix / guitar tone. Guitars are super buried/scooped, i have a hard time figuring out the riffs for the biggest part.

I dig all the stuff on it that is like, a Hell is Here throwback. It's like 50/50 fucking awesome and 50/50 The Crown just trying to be palatable Scandinavian Melodeath.

Obviously one of my favorite bands though.

One of the worst parts about Cobra Speed Venom is the main dude got super concerned about being a standard touring level Scandinavian Extreme Metal band and using Kempers and playing guitars with Evertunes and all that samey formulaic shit and somehow the most "The Crown" sounding track wasn't even on the album proper. It was a bonus track.

Besides Iron Crown, the bonus tracks were actually better than the stuff on the album proper.

Like, all the shifting to more ATG standard Scandinavian stuff is cool, and I also like bands like The Haunted and Witchery, but some of the stuff on the last two albums sounded more like those bands than The Crown, who are always the best when they are sort of doing their own thing that's not quite standard Scandinavian Extreme Metal. Like, there is nothing wrong with being a generic Scandinavian metal band playing fests with Kempers and Evertune guitars and LTD explorers or guitars that look like LTDs or having that kind of melodeathy vibe, but it's not the reason I consider The Crown an all time favorite.
