Huge fan. I didn't know he had a new album out yet, though.

EDIT - pretty cool, and I think I like this a litle more than his last, Wide Eyes in the Dark, though some of the vibe does remind me of that one. The horns are interesting (and a clear sign his production budget is improving, lol) - without them it would remind me a LOT more of Remarkably Human, but having horns in the mix for harmonies gives it an interesting, and oddly Eastern, melodic vibe.

The piano intro is basically Remarkably Human all over again

Not that it's a bad thing, but I was like "huh, I only know one of his albums and this sounds pretty much exactly like that."

Love this dude's playing but I didn't really like this at all. Way too much overproduction and his lead lines being doubled/tripled the whole time doesn't work for me. Just sounds like a mess.

Longest keyboard intro ever for a guitar instrumental??

There's a lot to unpack there; too much for a single listen. I like how it's actually not just a guitar instrumental, but a composition that incorporates guitar leads into the overall texture. My only nit to pick is that he doesn't let any of his melody lines breathe before moving onto the next one. It's an easy thing to fall into.

Yeah I'm kind ambivalent about the song, but I want that guitar.

I LOVE Nicks playing but sadly the last album didn't did much to me... and it seems this on will be the same. I'm not the type of person that needs to listens to things several times so I "get it"... other wise its not liking it its forcing me to like it, still I will give it a proper listen when its fully out.

"Remarkably Human with a brass section" seems pretty fair. I'll be curious to hear the rest of it, if it all sounds like this with the prominent brass harmonizing melody lines it might get a bit same-y, but if this is a departure within a diverse album it could be cool. He's certainly a great player with a great ear.

Not sure it's been mentioned here but David Maxim Micic did all the strings and brass on this, so I've heard.

                        :bump:

I grabbed this yesterday and am on my second listen.

There's a surprising amount of vocal music here, and his voice isn't bad, but it's not what I really became a fan of him for. The playing is good, the orchestral stuff for me isn't additive but he probably had a blast doing it...

I'll give it a few more listens before coming to any sort of opinion, but Remarkably Human grabbed me pretty quickly and thus far this hasn't.

Amazing playing and some sublime lines there.

I think I’d enjoy the horns a lot more if they were a dB or so lower in the mix.
