I didn’t realize this came out at the start of the month until this morning. Only got to hear half of the first song and man, he’s all over the place with his vocals. He’s going full Halford on some of it, the Tate-thing here and there and some modern screaming there. This should be right up MG’s alley!

Todd La Torre’s Solo Album (FFO Halford and badassery)

Really stoked to check the rest of this out. I’ve heard Todd do a lot of these kinds of vocals live in Ryche shows and he displayed a little more of it on the last Ryche album, but I’m anxious to see how far spread out he is, not just as a vocalist, but as a writer in general. The Karmic Law is not kismet. Yeah, that video was terrible.
However, Todd La Torre never ceases to impress me. Those were some ridiculous vocals. Not a bad Metal song at all.
I don't know why. But I just want to hear Todd work with Michael Romeo after hearing this. I think they would be sick together.
Glen Drover (Megadeth, King Diamond) did this Metal project where he had all these ridiculous Metal singers (Chuck Billy, Ripper) and Todd did this track.
Love it.👍 1Comment

I wasn’t a fan of some of the tones I heard either. On my iPad, they were screaming “Helix” at me.
I barely have an interest in guitar solos anymore and unless it’s someone specific, something has to really catch my ear for me to pay attention. I usually reserve the solo time for when I start thinking about the mix/production
Gonna hop on my couch when I get home, take my herbal medicine, toss on the 990’s and experience it the way I used to listen to music when I was 15!
Seems there’s a few videos out for this album already, while the one in the OP has a little cheese/huh factor, I’m surprised he’s getting support from the label to even put them out. That’s assuming he didn’t pay for them on his own, of course.
This is the first song I heard from the album-

I've been really impressed by the songs I've heard so far. It's interesting how versatile Todd is, when assume at first that he's going to sing everything the way he does in Queensryche.👍 1Comment

I didn’t get to do my couch session after work, but I listened to a couple more on the way home. Todd’s definitely doin’ the Halford thing all over it. Really, this is covering the ground of all my favorite metal vocals. Just need a Trendkill-era Anselmo section and maybe an AIC flavored section and it’ll have all many favorite vocals wrapped into one album!
The guitar tones I’ve heard so far are screaming “I’M A MODELER” from what I could tell, but I’m digging the music enough to not let it ruin it for me. I heard some pretty good lead shit, but not sure which song it was on. Gonna try for the couch sesh after dinner. The Karmic Law is not kismet. It is not fate but cause and effect.
