    new Ghost track

    Yep, digging this.

Before listening to this I know exactly how it'll go.

First listen: Meh, this feels like a dud.
Second listen, just in case: Maybe this isn't too bad.
4,582 listens later: Ok I need to listen to something else now.

3:44 total time is a bummer though.

It's no Square Hammer but it's pretty good.

          Yeah, basically.

            Did you expect blackened deathgrind?

Nothing wrong with a well-written pop tune.

I will say that this one feels a little mailed in (so far). I don't know how much input the old Ghouls had into things, but this sounds like Tobias is trying to do too much on his own.

I hope the rest of the album is WAY better than that bland generic pop tune.
                "Slow Hand"

                    I like it.

Typical Ghost, IMO. We're just getting used to them.

Doesn't grab me right away but I can see it growing on me.

It seems like this might be on the soundtrack for Halloween Kills, with the clips at the end with the shape and the Michael Myers mask.

I've only listened once, so I'll withhold judgment.

This was the point I stopped reading the thread. Without playing the track. At this point in time, I need crabs/any other random STD like a hole in the head.

I'd rather have it growing "on" me than "in" me.

Holding off on listening for thew time being for exactly this reason.

I don't think the band will ever top the "Rats" video though. The "Wait a second, is that a horse? I'm just now having the greatest idea..." moment in that video fucking rules.

Gave it a few more spins and IMO it's still too short. It's like he wanted to jam every Ghost-esque thing into one song and didn't give any of the parts enough time. It's not a bad tune, but weak by Ghost standards and really just feels rushed.

If anyone needs me I'll be spinning Square Hammer for the 12,859th time. Today. Because I am on the squa-aaaaare... And I'm on the le-veeeeellll... dunn da dun da dunnnnn

I’ve never once heard a Ghost song and thought to myself “I need to hear more songs by Ghost.” They’re fine, just not my cup of tea.

You might like this, which is on the heavier side.

Though again their whole sound is kind of vintage-y. No slick modern production, stutter edits, etc. I think they're a ton of fun. Closer to Jetrho Tull with more distortion than a modern metal band.

This tune in particular is fucking awesome:

Blue Oyster Cult with costumes. I'm not saying that disparagingly, either.

I've been a fan of Ghost for longer than I was a member on the original site. That being said, I gotta concur with most folks here. Tobias launched into the vocals a few bars too early, the song has solid riffs, but no room to breathe. They had all the right elements, but the song felt compressed, like a studio exec was standing over them with a half smoked cigar saying "under four minutes, boys..." and tapping at his watch. I didn't hate it, but it doesn't stand close to tracks like Year Zero, Square Hammer, Cirice, etc. I will definitely give the album a listen, but I really hope that this track is the low point.
