I listened a lot to "The Devil Is Fine" when it came out, but haven't followed Z&A since. Time to revisit!

Don’t You Dare is probably my favorite tune by them. That’s where the melding of the different styles just clicks into place the best.

i feel they’re spotty. Some stuff doesn’t work, while certain songs are absolutely brilliant.

There's a couple odd songs that stand on their own but most of it works better in the context of the album

I like the concept/idea, but the execution is just too all over the place for me.

I like the concept of the two types of music better than I actually like the music he has put out so far. I still end up listening fairly frequently. The first song you linked is definitely my favorite.

Zeal and Ardor (Gary Clarke Jr meets Black Metal)

Kept thinking of making a thread about these guys and forgetting. Singer says the concept is basically the common thread between black metal as a reaction to Christianity being forced on youth in Europe, and black slaves having Christianity forced on them when they were brought to the colonies. So it's a mashup of black metal occult vibes and deep south slave chant type songs.
