NOT METAL- ABBA are Back

ABBA the only Band that never reunited decided to make a comeback after 40 years... there are two new songs and I'm sorry to say this.. they sound like crap.


I was never an ABBA super fan but I have to admit they had really catchy tunes and it's a Band that still sells like hotcakes or used too... still I find these two new tunes a bit of a let down for such a Band.

ABBA has always been one of my guilty pleasures and yes, I do own ABBA Gold. A lot of talent and love the harmonies and the catchy songs which I grew up to.

Yeah, that first tune is slow and the second one, too, kinda but once the song gets going, it’s not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Definitely not as good as their earlier stuff which I’ll always love.

Considering the band haven't been together for 40 odd years, and Benny and Bjorn have focused more on film scores and musicals keeping the ABBA legacy alive, it should be no surprise that their songwriting has dulled significantly.

It is a miracle ABBA actually reformed, considering the amount of money they have been offered and repeatedly turned down was enough to feed a continent out of the third world.

"Don't Shut Me Down" isn't bad. The other one didn't grab me.

The first song sounds like a film piece or an anthem, which is in keeping with the direction Benny and Björn have evolved.

They’re clearly trying to cash in on the nostalgia factor with those CG animated avatars of themselves at the end of the video.

I mean, they’re all in their seventies.

My wife and I are both fans. The first track was a very boring disco ballad, but the second track isn’t bad at all. They actually sound really good given their age and the time since they’ve worked together.
