Yep, it's a generic djent song.

First half rhythmically (tone is solid) and the last part was pretty cool. The synth is a throwback to the first album, love it.
Best thing I've heard from them in a while but it's really not a good song.

His lead tone is unsubstantial compared to what he could be doing with it and him not being more expressive in that department is what led me not listening to AAL so much.
He was just more into "thump" instead of what drew him to most players, his colorful sense of melody and playing.

      The music video is wack.
Though someone did say it's funny that the guy off the "Obzen" cover joined AAL.

          I immediately thought that.

I liked the first album, but haven't been able to get into these guys since. Tosin writes some cool riffs, and plays some cool leads, but he's not a songwriter IMHO. I always thought these guys would benefit from having a vocalist, and someone who could turn those riffs into actual songs. As it is, their songs are just stacks of weird Tosin riffs and Allan Holdsworth leads.

I think Javier's a way stronger songwriter, and it seems like he doesn't have much input on the Animals as Leaders stuff. Let this guy do more songwriting and get a vocalist, and they could have a pretty crazy band.

I like this a lot. I still love The Joy of Motion more than the rest of their albums.

Fantastic lead guitar player. Bald interpretive dance motif to give that neo-snob artistic feel.... nope. No melody or harmonic content you'd remember 10 minutes later. Nope and it gets a Clint because of the above. I'm old enough that extreme dexterity alone won't float my boat.

I get that we live in a more liberal world than decades ago and sexuality is no longer binary and whatever....

....but I still can't figure out why the shirtless men are wearing dresses.

Clearly they should have been wearing MC HAMMER pants.

Best thing featuring Tosin Abasi and Javier Reyes

I can’t think of any situation in life where I would want to listen to this. It’s just too dissonant and chaotic.

Dang this could have been played in ever Belk store across America.

Kind of dig it. It's a little nutty with the sax.

Maybe if it wasnt slow motion and they did the MC Hammer dance in those pajama pants instead, then I'd change my mind.

The choreography and dance was more interesting than the music.

There were a couple cool rhythmic parts but as a whole this bored me. Tosin is too good of a player to be boring and it’s sad.

This is the best AAL song released this year:

It wasn't bad. Like a lot of "post rock" instrumental music, it has the feel of being a backing track for something that never shows up. I prefer instrumental music with a stronger and more fundamental top line.

This is cool for like a minute and then it bores the fuck out of me.

That's such a GREAT way of describing it. 100% agreed.
