BTBAM: Colors II actually pretty cool

Was surprised by this. I'm kinda hot and cold on BTBAM, liked Colors overall though.

This album is sweet, I might like it better than the first one. Goes off on tangents like the other one but even more out of left field. Has some Mr. Bungle vibes.

Colors has always been my favorite album of theirs…Alaska and The Great Misdirect, too.

Been checking this out, so awesome. I wish i would’ve seen them when they played in Portland, Maine.

Colors was my favorite album by them for a while (I never really cared much for The Great Misdirect, though), but recently my favorite might be Automata I (II is good as well, but I think I prefer I).

I haven't checked out Colors II yet. I mean, I think it just came out a few days ago, after all. But I definitely will.

Listened to a bit earlier and I was enjoying it, not really been into stuff like this in years so maybe I'll check the whole album out

Is this really Colors II? Haven't listened all the way through but feels like the TGM II to me...

There is a definite pre and post TGM BTBAM for sure.

I have never gotten the hate for these guys, I love them. I thought Automata 1 & 2 were absolute garbage. I still can't make it through that one. This rocks, though.

              Colors
              The Great Misdirect
              Parallax 1 & 2
              Coma Ecliptic

That was a heck of a run of albums.

Colors II is fucking killer. BTBAM fans: run, don't walk.

If that's what it is, that's a big reason for me to not check it out since I own almost all of BTBAM's albums and The Great Misdirect is one of my least favorites. Eh... It's still a good album, but it's nowhere near as good as Alaska or Colors or The Parallax (I or II) or Automata (I or II). I hope you're wrong about that...

I'm planning to check it out, but it's the kind of thing where you really need time to digest it. They're not the kind of band where you can just casually listen to a 3 minute long song and be like "Hey, cool, I'll buy that album."

Parallax 1 and 2 are great, but they really pale compared to Automata 1 and 2. And The Great Misdirect is just weak sauce compared to most of BTBAM's other stuff.

Definitely take my assessment with a grain of salt. I only ever listened to Alaska thru TGM with any sort of consistency. Will be interested to hear your thoughts once you get a chance to listen to it.

Finally could listen to it in its entirety and I dig it. It really feels like Colors II, not TGM II. (I wouldn't mind though, because i think TGM is also great - "Swim To The Moon" is one of their best songs imho)

I’m anxious to scoop this up. It took me forever to get into these guys and then one night it just clicked. They’re practically everything I want in a modern Dream Theater album, without fuckin circus noises.

And more Bungle elements is ALWAYS a plus for me (I know, a bit contradictory towards my circus music comment….)
The Karmic Law is not kismet. It is not fate but cause and effect. It is a taskmaster to the unwise; a servant to the wise.

I'll have to give this a listen this weekend, I'm not a huge fan of the majority of their back catalogue, but I LOVE Colours.

Yeah, this basically. It's a fuckin' banger. I listened to the whole thing on a car trip last weekend. If you like BTBAM you'll like this.

I gave this a listen... well rather I got about four tracks in... and I must say this album pales in comparison to Colours I. Do they have a different guy on vocals also, because if it's the same dude he's bloody lost it somehow, not sure if he's fucked up his voice somehow but his clean vocals are not on point at all. Couldn't really get into it to be honest just seemed like a parody of the first album.

It is the same dude, just got old I guess lol. I was wondering the same thing until I watched the video of them playing.
