Fear not... New Maiden album will have three 10+ minute ones and a 8+min and last but not least, three more 7+ min ones to help you fall asleep

I like shorter songs, they get more catchy and we can put repeat them often

I dunno. The older I get, the more I appreciate songs that get in, rip, and get out. I love Skeletownitch's Serpents Unleashed because the whole album is like a half hour long, with no padding whatsoever. It leaves you wanting more.

haha, same! my band wrote a song with the intention of, "here's a fun ripper, nothing over-the-top or complicated!" then i finished it and it was 7 fucking minutes!

I love Serpents Unleashed, but my biggest issue with it is it's so damn short. They spent all that time writing these awesome riffs and they're over in 10 seconds.

I like longer songs that use the run time to explore different ideas or just let you get really immersed, but for every Master of Puppets or Hallowed Be Thy Name there are a thousand songs 7+ minute songs that absolutely should not have been longer than 4, maybe 5 minutes. Modern metal is particularly bad about this.

All just IMO, of course.

Yeah, that is very true, a lot of them meander. I find that those albums aren't much worth listening to anyway, so I rarely find myself going back to them.

Hell yeah, it's such a good mix of black metal, thrash and Maiden-ish two guitar parts. I saw them on the tour for that album (and a few other times besides) and they were so good. Such an incredible live band.

Sully is one if my fav singers, I like Godsmack saw them once in London and they did the drum battle thing which was epic

Just heard Exodus song, I love it, its badass tune wish it was bit longer. Exodus always brings it heavy and thrash shit.
