    More new Sykes.

Here's hoping this record comes out this year.
    The solo is pretty tasty.

Straight forward high rev rock , I can dig it. I think he's gonna trickle stuff out, these days I cant see him doing the whole album/tour thing, just living comfy and doing what he wants.

      Probably.

The wildest thing I found out about him recently. Is that before The Winery Dogs officially became a thing, Sir Russell Allen (Symphony X) was going to be the singer of the band that Portnoy was making and John Sykes wanted him.

Man, that would have been perfect.

Yeah him and Portnoy where on "That Metal Show" announcing that band and I was looking forward to that then it fizzled out .

I'm sure there is a million reasons but it always seems to come back to money. I kinda see it being a issue when you wright lyrics and music wanting your credit, but I think everyone in that band could contribute to the band... but then it gets down to how small a slice of the pie works for you.

Sykes hasn't commercially issued new music in almost 20 years, so I wonder whether he's got some mental block going on. Portnoy would probably have little patience for that, since he has seemingly five projects going on at any given time.

Artistically, I'm not sure I hear them as being compatible. Sykes favors massive walls of guitars that might not leave room for Portnoy's 50,000 drum hits per measure. I'm not sure where Russell would have found any room to operate in that dense wall of noise!!

Can you imagine going from Carmine Appice with that almost behind the beat feel, to Mike Portnoy? I don't see how they could differ more within the genre.

Yeah that would be wild. But I'm sure it'd be fun too.

oh dear, i can attest that royalties aren't exactly massive, so a large piece of no pie is still no pie.
