When you watch those documentaries about the scene in the 80s, they kinda make clear after VH and Quiet Riot got signed, basically anybody that had "the look" got a record deal. There were a lot of acts that were really just a Maybelline commercial with a bunch of studio magic and session dudes to make it into a "band", but were not a viable, legitimate band.
Then you had some bands on the back end of the scene like Winger or Slaughter that were absolutely INSANE musicians that got lost in the shuffle. Lotta dudes that were nutso good and as a result, have been going out and killing it for 30 years since while guys like Vince Neil funnel themselves into spandex and waddle around on stage for $100,000 a night.

Thanks to your posts I've just discovered Slaughter, Rando.Randy
The industry was totally fooked at the time, to the point where Winger were touring with a record company stylist giving Kip advice on which T-shirt to wear. I'll pull the guitar mag article mentioning this out of my stash, it's really pretty funny, the journo lost his rag with Kip over some basic politeness issue and shits on him constantly for being a poser whilst inadvertently making it clear to anyone who can read as well as write that Winger were about the music, not the bullshit.
Ghost. Pull has some savagely heavy tunes on it. That's a good example. In general, Winger can be hard as fuck. While out with my old thrash band, I was getting shit from some local scene guys for wearing plain black T-shirts onstage and hence not showing everybody what I was into. They cornered me and demanded to know what my favourite bands were because I wasn't wearing the uniform. The incredulous looks I'd get when I'd say, errrr, "Dunno... Extreme? Winger?" :tremarm: As if that ruled out liking stuff with cookie monster vox made by ugly dudes or Scandis?!

I saw Kip's solo acoustic thing a bit before Covid hit and he was fantastic then too. They're all talented as hell.

Well. All that repeat viewing of the Winger clips sent a very clear message to YouTube's algowossnames.
So, who wants to know what happened to all the hot girls attending Winger shows before Beavis and Butthead cancelled them?
OTOH, I ain't 17 no more and she seems to be terribly calculating, modelling her makeup "looks" on Avril and Joss Stone. My wise ol' momma says "16 at the back, 60 at the front", which seems fairly accurate. She might even be flattered... :|
Anyway, here is the interviewer, shakin' what she got:
(Keen listeners will note that Kip is careful to mention that he will be available to her daughter, a dancer, after the show.)
Where did I put that wahwah pedal?
Oh yeah, and special guest appearance by Reb's koa RBM Ibanez right at the very end.
