Saw them live in Lewiston, Maine circa 1993-1994. A couple of local death metal bands opened for them. Met Dan Lilker, he was wasted and fell over on stage quite a few times during the show but was eating pizza out backstage before they went on and that's when I met him, pretty nice guy and super laid back.

I love Survive and Handle With Care. Both classic albums to this day.

As I'm sure New Mike remembers, they played DC like once a week in the late '80s. One of the best of an era of underground bands that were truly great live.

I saw them around that time too, at Salisbury Beach.

I love this band, grew up blasting this album and The Plague on my BMX bike.

Nice! We used to drive to Salisbury Beach back then all the time for shows. One of the best shows I ever saw there was Incantation (Infestation opened for them and had played in Lewiston a few months prior) and Incantation didn’t have a bass player but they still kicked ass. I used to love going because there were always cassette demos and killer merch but I cannot remember the name of the venue/place.

            80s thrash is best thrash.

also there are some great throwback crossover bands happening right now.

Am I this "New Mike" you speak of? Cause that's a serious misnomer based on how old I am...

Either way, I think I saw Nuke at least 5 times in the DC/Balto area back then. My favorite was the first time they played Network. I remember standing out back with Moose and the guys from Deceased and Abominog and Nuke was inside sound checking and we all thought the soundman was playing Nuke's latest record over the PA but it was them. Album perfect with all the insane energy of a live thrash band. Gets no better than that.

The Civic Center? That’s my hometown, I used to live in the apartment that was directly to the left of the civic center....actually spent the majority of 20 years on that same street in multiple, shitty apartments.

No, it was at the small theater right off Lisbon st in the downtown shitty area kinda nearby the civic center.

Nice to see a fellow Mainer and yes, there are plenty of shitty apartments around that area and luckily I never had to live in any of them but I did live on Boston Ave across from the Lewiston High School in the 90s which was kinda alright.

                    Too funny, man.

I think I know what you’re talking about, kinda closer to Main St? I know they weren’t having any shows there by ‘98. I moved out of Lewiston in ‘95 and came back in ‘98 when I was 15, which was when I first started going to shows alone. Boston Ave wasn’t bad at all. I lived on the corners of Howard/Ash, Howard/Pine and Howard/Walnut for most of that time, aside from when we lived in Hillview up Sabattus St. I was actually going to go back up there Memorial Weekend as my best friend is up there, but he’s probably heading down to Mass instead.

And when I was really little, I lived in 2 apartments on Blake St, that nasty blue apartment with the big sandlot next to it on the corner of Walnut/Blake and at one point, Knox St. Man, I can smell that weird Lewiston smell thinking about it; the smell of bread mixed with alley trash/mud puddles....has this weird sour smell to it that I’ll forever associate with downtown Lewiston.

Lewiston is such a sad city, an economical wasteland. Sadly, our jam space is there but at least its in a nice part of the dirty Lew (on Bradford st right off upper Sabattus st) where my singer lives, a nice house in a nice neighborhood. I live west of Auburn in Mechanic Falls and work in Auburn which is nicer.

If you ever come visit, let me know. Cheers!

I think you're younger than me, but you're definitely newer to this crowd. So, yes, you.

So, it goes You -> Dirt - > Me in order of birth?

So are you older or younger than Tommy Gattis? My older brother went to high school with all the Deuce guys... (and funny tangent, Jeff from Indestroy's older brother used to mess around with Joan Jett in high school... )

                                I think I'm younger. I'm 54.
