    Soldano X88R Project Thread

    Hello, everyone!

I'm going to be making some Soldano X88R clones in the near future and I'm playing around with some designs. I'd love to get some thoughts and/or opinions on them. If you've got some suggestions, please do chuck them in.

First up are a single illustrated mock up followed by a group one. Feel free to tuck in and rip in!

The classic pinky/purple would be cool. Also, I know it would make text hard as fuck to read, but wouldn't a snakeskin front plate be fucking 80s/rad as hell?

Just had a play with it and I have to admit, it came out a lot better than I expected. Nice suggestion.

Holy shit, that looks fucking awesome, and while the text is slightly harder to read it's not crazy bad.

was gonna suggest a yellow one, but honestly i think we've peaked with the snakeskin. i have a friend who is all about snakeskin and 80's rack preamps, he'd lose his mind over this.

The only way you could make that snakeskin one more 80s is to have lasers shooting out of the faceplate. I feel like the power requirements for a proper laser that could blind someone would put too much strain on a transformer meant for a 2u rack space though.

That's what I like to hear!

Also, I guess the important question is: price range for this project? And would you sending it as a kit save any money whatsoever?

Considering I threw the stuff out to see what sticks, this is really rather fitting

                                          Great questions.

I'm still working on that at the moment and I'm sure I could look at it as a kit. Still in the early stages but if there is enough interest in this, I could definitely look into it 😎
