Bit of an impulse buy. I've had the AFX2 for 8+yrs now and never really felt the need to buy another amp. But ive heard great things about these little amps and they go crazy cheap, especially used. Not a tone of gain on tap but it can do a very respectable hard rock sound. EVH riffs crush through it. Only 2watts but still loud enough to annoy the neighbors/play with a band. Sounds great at lower volumes too. VERY pedal friendly, my Friedman smallbox clone sound incredible through it. Planning on building the BE soon, i'm confident it will be able to pull of a modern-ish metal sound.
Build quality is very impressive, uses point to point wiring. Its a work of art under the hood. Built to order from Valvetone amps in Aus. It runs a single 12ax7 preamp and two 6dx8 or 6f4p output tubes. According to the builder
Couple of sound clips, recorded on my phone.

The Impact is not based on any other brand/model, it has its own voice. One recognizable circuit element is the one-knob tone control which is the same as that originally used in the Watkins Dominator and its clone, the 18-watt Marshall.
