Isn't there a "plasma pedal" as well?

honestly. if it were cheap enough the corniness of it would seal the deal. that's "real rack gear" money right there, and i aint spending it on a gimmick.

Nowhere near the eye candy level.

                Phased Plasma Overdrive. 40-watt range.

I own the Third Man pedal version and it sounds awesome. Not sure if I want a rack version though.

I seem to remember the plasma Tubescreamer sounding like sizzling shit, but I would LOVE to have this in my rack just to sit there and look cool.

You talking about the NuTube screamer? I like the sound of mine. I don't use it as a metal boost in a traditional sense but I think they're cool.

In all fairness, it's not really intended to be a rack mount unit for a guitar player, it's priced and designed for a wide variety of studio uses. The pedal version is pricey for sure but not as bad as Suhr's newest $650 analog delay pedal....

Still tho... just a little bit crazy

I mean if this thing was better than/as good as but different in cool ways, a tube preamp distortion circuit, $1500 or so for a good quality preamp circuit isn't outrageous. It just has to be pretty fucking awesome, like Triaxis or Recto Recording Pre or Bogner Fish good, at this kind of money.

Exactly - I like what the rep for the company does with these things on drums here - skip to 4:14:

That's not a product priced or meant for guitarists that have a home/project studio or bedroom setup. It's a fuzz and ring modulator in one circuit that can make synths, bass, and drums sound pretty wild.

Wow, sizzling shit was actually quite the accurate description of the sounds this thing makes Would be a cool light show if the price was right to stick in the rack. Cool if you're doing weird synth projects I guess, but that's about it.

It amazes me how many of our guitar playing brothers and sisters are so utterly foolish that products like this find buyers when you can pick up an SD1 or TS variant for under $100.
