I'm borrowing this from a friend to potentially buy it. It is a Lonestar Special, so EL84s instead of 6L6/EL34s. The thing sounds stupid good, though it isn't the type of amp I normally play. It gets a pretty cool lead tone, but it definitely doesn't hit metal territory. The price is pretty decent, so I may go ahead and snag it, especially since pre-Gibson stuff will start shooting up in price.

Can you push the front or loop in a pedal to get it where you want to go?

I love my Lonestar cab - it definitely does metal.
Don't expect much, it's not like I'm a Rocket Surgeon...

Looking around the room at all the other great amps you have, I'd say that would fit right in.

They sound fantastic, for sure, in either power tube variety.

It would definitely fill a space you don't already have covered...

It definitely gets much closer. I'd say you could do Dream Theater type gain with this, and a pedal pushing it. It gets to the mid range of what my Mark V:25 has to offer, but a different voicing, obviously.

Definitely true. The leads really are great on it.

Amazing amp!! Get it. If nothing else, you can flip it later for probably what you paid, since they're discontinued.

Thanks, guys. I'm finding that some of these less popular Mesas end up being just as good if not better than the Marks, etc.

Shush! This is how I've been gear-whoring Mesa's for years now. Don't let the secret out!

This is me playing through thousands of dollars worth of music gear and my custom shop guitar.

                                  It’s disappointing Mr. Durst isn’t more self-aware.
