Since my Axe is racked in at my desk I was looking for something small to throw around for when I jam with my buddies. The GC used price was right so I snagged it mainly just to try something different. The eventual plan is to throw this on a pedalboard with a preamp and use it primarily for effects. It a fun little unit and very easy to use. Pretty sure with some more tweaking it'll bring the goods - at least for me.

Here's a clip using only the Stomp and my unfortunate drum programming. Spent about 10 minutes creating a 5150 patch and then blended it in with a MarkIV. Too lazy to get the bass out of the closet so I just used the Stomp to pitch down my guitar an octave and ran it through the SVT model

Sounds quite good for a low information causal. 🧐

Import your own IRs and you can make it sound quite good. I had one of these for about 8 months and thought it was decent. Your riffing is excellent.

I loved my HX Stomp. Not as much as I love my Axe FX, but still it was an amazing little box for sub-$500. I'm sure you'll dig it too! Congrats!

Great riffing, damn decent sound. The right IR would make that really shine IMO.

Thanks all! Was definitely impressed with it right out the box in terms of sound to cost ratio. The Cab/IRs do seem a little lacking on this thing - ended up making some strange pairing options I normally wouldn't consider just because it sounded the best.

Who are people getting their IRs from these days? In my experience the Axe has always sounded good with what's included so I've never dipped my toes into the 3rd party IR life.

I tried a whole bunch of free ones at some point (Redwirez pack perhaps?), but had trouble finding any that I liked. Then I tried Mattayus' IRs and have been using those since because they were so much better than all the other ones I'd tried - the Marshall 1960A and Zilla ones work really well together. I don't know if he's posted them here, but he shared them on the old site. Never tried commercial IRs though, so can't compare to those.

Lozek swears by the Bogren stuff. I've not used them myself.

Good to hear you're enjoying it now! I saw your thread when you first got it and wasn't impressed - I was disappointed for you, I hoped it was just learning a new thing, and looks like it was. 👍

Yeah, definitely learning a new thing and getting past what the original owner did in the global settings. I did a factory reset, then re-loaded all the original presets and the disappointment waned. Then I got rid of the EQ cut off (a setting that was cutting anything over like 6 or 7 k which made it all sound muffled) in a lot of the amp sims I was using and >boom< it sounded great. And, in the middle of all that I'm sure there was operator error and me overthinking things...

I’ve got the Stomp, and use it with ML Sound and York IRs. It’s killer, for the money. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money again on a modeler, since ultimately I’d rather play an amp (either through a speaker or through my Captor X), but for something quick and easy, and something that fits in my man bag, this thing rules.

Sounds good the sample York audio pack is decent £1 I think.

I typically use ones I've made myself or mattayus ones

                            Nice tone man.

I use a bunch of the IRs Ola made in mine and they make a huge difference in the sound.

I bought my stomp thinking once I get on the list to get a FM3 I would sell it and move on. Ended up liking it enough to not worry about replacing it.

I have them. They're super bright and very compressed. They sound good, but I feel like they're more of an effect than a core sound I'd use. For me, the Ownhammer IRs are the ones I always wind up going back to. They work so well and sound amazing.
