I feel like the American Flag is a little weird considering Dokken recorded and released their first album in Germany for European markets and Don Dokkens entire vocal style is based on emulating KM from Scorpions.
Seriously, he was brought in to sing for Scorpions during the recording of Blackout when Klaus Meine was temporarily out of commission. The bass player from Accept, Peter Baltes, coincidentally one of the best pick style bass players in metal, recorded the bass tracks on the original version of Breaking the Chains.
Great cover though, great band too. Under Lock and Key is my favorite album of theirs, Unchain the Night is the best song Dokken has ever done.
Don Dokken purposefully brought in Michael Wagener for all their shit too. Up to Back For The Attack of course. Which is a great album but is noticeably more washed out and reverby than the ones Michael Wagener did.I think he's a big fan of Germany. Michael Wagener is amazing. Accept's "Russian Roulette" and the Skid Row albums are still some of the best sounding albums ever.
The backing vocals on the Russian Roulette album are the greatest ever put to record.
