    CME WIDI Master (Wireless MIDI)

Saw this on the KPA Facebook group, looks pretty slick.

WIDI Master is your virtual MIDI cable. Now you can connect all your MIDI devices - without computers - without cables - with WIDI Master!

I wouldn't rely on it in a band situation, but for a gadget fiend home studio guy like me... I love shit like this.

Plus they aren't afraid to market it with this pic:

I have these to connect my rack effects to my PC. Works great with no effort. 👍🏻

How are they powered? Do they have an internal battery?

It's BTLE, and gets power from the MIDI jack itself:

The WIDI Master consists of two parts: one is the main adapter, which is used to obtain power from MIDI OUT DIN connector and send or receive MIDI messages wirelessly. The other is a sub adapter, which is used to transmit MIDI messages to the MIDI IN DIN connector of the MIDI device.

Correct- the MIDI Out port of the device provides the power and then the WIDI’s MIDI In connector receives its power via a small cable off of the WIDI MIDI Out connector

I just put together a pedalboard and this is really interesting. I'm wondering how I'd connect 3 or more MIDI devices using this since I run effects units and my amp via MIDI, but any chance to lose some cables and not worry about fidelity is very interesting indeed.

Interesting! My fcb1010 is powered off 9v, so I can use a volto type battery to power it. So if the kemper and fcb provide it with power, I could have a totally wireless foot controller

I had a MIDI Commander for a while, and it runs off AA batteries. It can act as a charger for rechargeable ones too.

Nice! What's the battery life like?

Depends on the AAs, but usually 4-6 hours. Not great but not terrible.

I have a Yamaha BT MIDI dongle laying around; works fine, but haven't had much use for it yet. The CME one is better on paper, as it's less clunky and the MIDI-in part of it can be removed if you're plugging into something with MIDI out only.

Would this work for fcb1010 to afx2?

                            From their website:

Important! You will need 2x WIDI Master to pair two MIDI devices. You will only need 1x WIDI Master to pair with Bluetooth MIDI device. You can add up to 5x WIDI devices in a wireless MIDI group.
Shame i would have liked to pair my fcb1010 to my afx2 using these but im not paying $160AUD to do that.
