Damnit I am legit trying to right now but the Death tax is strong enough that it has me considering a new 5150 iii 50 watt but there are 3 options to choose from and I can't decide. I have no option around here to try one out.
I did find this hideous monstrosity for sale locally but the visible corrosion on the transformer, replacement power cord, and shit brown tolex have turned me away. I can likely get it for a steal but the dude isn't even willing to pull it out of the chassis and take a picture because "That is a lot of work just to sell an amp"

I should JBA5150....
right now is probably one of the worst times, historically, to JBA5150. makes me really regret never hopping on one back in the day where you could get them dirt cheap. now motherfuckers are even selling XXXs for way too much goddamn money.
We should organize a mm.org raid of the shit brown 5150 guy's Kijiji ad. Have everyone message him asking to see pics inside the chassis and offer him $500-600.
I sent the dude a long winded response when I offered him $500 explaining that I wasn't confident that whoever hacked up an extension cord to use for the power cord might not have been so diligent about making sure the safety ground was intact, as well as the moisture damage, dude never replied to me.
This being Canada things are a bit more expensive. Dude wants $900 for his hacked up, moisture damaged amp. I'd give him $500, maybe $600 just to have a project, no fucking way I'm dumping $900 into that monstrosity.
Dude has no fucking clue, he told both Coop and I that it had the original tubes in it like that was a selling feature.
I got my 6505 on ebay for like 300 bucks a few years ago.
the glory days. now motherfuckers won't get out of bed for less than $600. unless i find a dope who is willing to sell for way too low, my cheap, stubborn ass may never own one.

I sold my block letter for $600 when I was in college. I have zero use for one right now, but it sucks that 6505+'s are MIC and are like $1500 these days, so it's not like I could even buy a new one and have the same thing.
Do the MH's sound close enough? That's more manageable for me and would see a lot more use.
I'm about to buy a Peavey Ultra+, which I'm told are somewhat similar?
It's not the same but still pretty cool in it's own way. I miss my old one and would buy another if I saw one come up locally for the right price. Plus I'm nostalgic... it was the first tube amp I ever bought.

JJ and I have both messaged the cunt.
Wow, that literally looks like someone covered it in shit
I inquired about snagging a new 5150 iii 50 watt. ETA to even get a new one is June - August here. I wonder if there is more than the death tax driving up the used market for them atm.
The result of "countless hours" of deep dives into the original amp and conversations with users, each unit promises to “re-create the magical, crushing sound that defined a generation of guitar tone”
