I have the FM3 and FC6 and they're great. What amp models do you guys particularly like? I'm a big fan of the CCV, the Morgan, the Atomica, and strangely a couple of the old Bassman models.
I basically bounce between two presets, and all the ancillary pedals/effects/routing are identical. Basically, I've created "amp style" presets, with different amp blocks driving the flavor of each Scene. but the overall setup is the same (drive pedal location, volume/wah, etc), which makes it easy... it's literally like having the same pedalboard, but plugging it into different amp/cabs.
I thought most of the Mesa stuff is really good, particularly the JP-2C. The Friedman’s are cool too, but damn the Small Box is amazing. Makes me want a real one (if it weren’t $2800+)
The most frustrating thing about the Fractal groups is that most of it is just people asking for presets all day. That's like having a warehouse of awesome gear and posting online asking people where you should put the knobs.

Yeah I never understood the concept of buying a $1000-$2500 piece of gear, and yet being so unwilling to crack open the manual.
The HBE C45 has been my go-to amp for a lot of shit and is the main one I use when I’m just jamming/fucking around. Right before Cygnus, I checked out the SLO and really dug it.....after Cygnus, I REALLY dig it.
Also, the Herbie Ch. 3 is pretty damn ridiculous as well.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the 2nd beta for Cygnus gets posted today. It’s pretty damn cool that Cliff let us test it out so far without all the amps being updated.
There’s 2 types of AxeFX users I don’t understand- The guys that mainly rely on presets other people make and the guys who are really concerned about how accurate the AxeFX is modeling it’s physical counterpart. Now, I can understand the latter if your normal rig is a certain amp and you just want to have an exact digital recreation of it, but for me, the best part about the AxeFX is that I can make my own Marshall Boogie Plexifier if I wanted to. I use the model names as a ballpark of where I want to go, but the last thing I think about while dialing something in is how accurately I’m representing the physical amp.

I mean, I'll admit that I'm much more interested in playing than tweaking these days and my time is limited, so most of my "patches" consist of adding a looper to an existing preset
One of these days I'll get it together to spend some time with the editor.
Yeah, I'll usually spend a day setting up a handful of new patches once every 6 months or so, then just stick with 'em. Otherwise, you could spend allllll your time tweaking
I actually have some ideas to mix some of the models I've really been into to create something cool for my live originals band (Sin Luto). I can only do two amps, since I'm still on the 2XL, but something like mixing the Savage and MK models. Might be a bit mushy, not much mixes well with the Mk since it's already so full.
I make new presets when I get a new guitar (which is kind of often?). I've got a few ambient/weird presets that I may tweak a little while recording, but things are pretty static.

I'm still running an AFX2. The stock cab sims were giving me the blues, so I grabbed York Audio's Friedman IR pack. The modeled cab has a pair of V30s and a pair of Greenbacks, and the IRs model each separately and mixes of both. It's brighter than a classic Marshall cab, but lots of cool tones. I'm really impressed with York's modeling. The cabs have the nice low end detail but aren't dark sounding the way the ML Sound Labs ones can be. I'm looking to get a couple more of York's packs, since he models a whole bunch of cool cabs--many of which are not aimed at the metal audience.
2 amp blocks per preset, but you have 4 different channels where you can put a different amp on each channel. It took me a bit to understand it, but essentially, you can only use 2 amps at one time, but between scenes and channels, in a dual-amp preset you can have up to 8 different amps.
Scene 1/Channel 1 5150/Dual Rec
Scene 2/Channel 2 BE-100/Diezel
Scene 3/Channel 3 Twin Reverb/Plexi
Scene 4/Channel 4 SLO/Savage

In regards to dual-amp setups, I've gotten some GREAT clean tones with them, but it's tricky getting a good distorted 2-amp rig, at least for recording. I've got a couple that are a work in progress. It generally works great for a single track, but when I double track stuff it's like "WOOOOAHHH that's a bit much!"
Tricky to dial in the right amount of distortion so it doesn't turn to shit.

I've never been able to get a tone I love using 2 cab blocks. Sometimes I'll quad track using 2 amps, but if I do that I'm usually doing some pretty big EQ moves to zone in on what I like most about each amp.
